Coolstreaming is based on the technology P2PTV (television of Per to Per) which makes it possible for the users to divide and share the bandwidth of the television channel being streamed with one anothers Internet connection. Technology behind Coolstreaming is similar to that of Bittorrent. The contents of channel is both viewed and uplaoded simutatiuonaly buy the viewers of the stream. Coolstreaming creates a local “stream” on the localhost (your desktop pc) and this stream is then shown through Windows media player, Real player or any other media player. The original code coolstreaming is developed with python 2.3 on Windows. Coolstreaming is a data-centric design of peer-to-peer streaming overlay.

Coolstreaming uses some notable features of the protocol include its intelligent scheduling algorithm that copes well with the bandwidth differences of uploading clients and thus minimises skipping during playback, and its swarm-style architechture that uses a directed graph based on gossip algorithims to broadcast content availability. Coolstreaming is the first system of P2PTV which attracts a remarkable quantity customers (more than 1 million, while majority of the less attracted preceding systems than 1 thousand customers). In date June of 10, the 2005 service of Coolstreaming had stopped because of the exits of copyright. However, there are several alternative services. CoolStreaming is low technology for Roxbeam Corp., which launched programmes of phase of IPTV in common with Yahoo Japan in October 2006.

PPlive is another peer-to-peer streaming video network similar to coolstreaming. PPLive software was written at Huazhong University’s Science and Technology department in China (hence all the text being in Chinese). PPLive is yet another in the growing trend of P2P programs that combine P2P technologies and Internet TV – called P2PTV.

Channels you can watch
As well as most European and English Premiership football games, there are plenty of other sports you can watch with PPLive such as American football, basketball and baseball. You can also watch a huge number of other TV channels and stations through the PPlive software. Most of them are categorized under a variety of channel groups such as Movies, Music, TV series and live TV streaming. Most available programs are in Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean. There are however, a growing amount of channels in English showing content such as the latest movies and American TV shows such as Lost, 24, Battle star Galatia, Heroes etc. (As these are on Chinese cannels, they will have Chinese subtitles).

Please note: PPlive sometimes attempts to block certain channels, such as sports channels, and their movie channels, from IP addresses outside of China. This can be resolved buy using a proxy IP in china.

Sopcast is the small piece of software needed to view the live football streams. Sopcast is used to multicast the streams for the TV channels listed on this site over the internet. Sopcast uses a distributed bandwidth technique similar to bittorrent to lighten the load of the broadcaster’s upstream bandwidth where each listener/viewer will relay or piggyback the stream they download to one or more additional viewers. Please make sure you unblock your firewall when Sopcast prompts you to increase the stability of the stream for the next person! That’s how we all get free TV football streams! Using Sopcast allows any multicasters, particularly small or independent ones, ie the people how stream the sport TV channels, to distribute their streams without need for much bandwidth, saving them costs.
